Team
Meet the team behind JR Pro Cycling — the riders, the structure and the people building the next generation.

The Team
JR Pro Cycling Team was founded in Dire Dawa by Ethiopian cycling legend Jemal Rogora — an Olympian and three-time Ethiopian champion — alongside his son Kiya Jemal Rogora. We are committed to developing Ethiopian cycling talent and creating a pathway toward professional international competition.
The team was established to address a major gap in Ethiopian cycling: the lack of a sustainably funded, professionally structured team capable of developing riders and pursuing higher-level competition. Our founders did not wait for a sponsor to build the project. Driven by passion and belief in Ethiopian talent, they invested approximately ETB 5 million to establish the team's foundation.
The founder
Ethiopian cycling legend, Olympian and three-time Ethiopian national champion in 1970, 1971 and 1974. He represented Ethiopia at the 1980 Olympic Games, the first and only participant from the Hararge region to compete there.
He founded JR Pro Cycling Team in Dire Dawa alongside his son, Kiya Jemal Rogora, to develop Ethiopian cycling talent and build a pathway toward professional international competition.

My biggest dream is to represent my country in Olympics as my father did.
The legacy of Jemal Rogora lives on through his son, Kiya Jemal. Inspired by his father's achievements, Kiya began cycling at a young age and quickly rose to become one of Ethiopia's top riders. He won the Ethiopian Championship, represented his country in multiple competitions, and claimed victories in African tournaments.
Today, Kiya rides for EF Education, an American professional cycling team based in Europe — a rare achievement for an Ethiopian cyclist. His story shows what is possible: if one rider can achieve so much with family support alone, imagine the potential of dozens of young talents given the same opportunity.
